Lordland Europe plans designer outlet in Billund

Lordland Europe Limited - the European outlet developer and operator – and the Kommune of Billund are in detailed negotiations to place a major themed designer outlet village close to the Legoland Theme Park in Billund in Mid-Jutland.

The Mayor of Billund Ib Kristensen welcoming the proposals said:

- This is another opportunity to create and promote Billund as ‘Denmark’s Orlando’ and adds another major attraction for tourists and locals to enjoy as well as benefiting the local economy by investment and job creation.

Lordland Europe, together with a consortium of European investors, have identified three potential locations within minutes of Legoland and are evaluating their potential together with the Kommune and are expecting to finalise the location strategy and make a planning submission by the end of the year, with a view to the outlet village opening by Christmas 2010.

The outlet village will feature a wide choice of shops selling international and national brands, including designer brand fashions, all at discount prices all year round. It will be themed around a harbour and waterways with narrow streets reflecting the character of an 18th Century Danish fishing village and the main attraction at the heart of the village will be the ‘Billund Eye’ - a 55 metre high Ferris wheel giving visitors spectacular views over all of Billund’s attractions and beyond. 2000 free car parking spaces are to be provided as well as a 4 star hotel to accommodate visitors staying overnight.
